45 YEARS AND COUNTING...

A STUDY IN THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH

Good Morning!

I want to welcome new guests who have been to our website and completed the form for information. This is a Bible study email that is delivered into your mailbox 3-5 times a week. You can go to DBEAWINNING.COM and click "BLOG" to view the past emails regarding different studies. Welcome!

We are in the middle of a study from the book of Jeremiah. In many ways, I see my life through the life of Jeremiah. A man called by God for a special purpose to the people of his nation. He trusted God with his life implicitly. He didn't always enjoy the task God gave to him, but, he stayed faithful to the course God had given him.

Throughout the entire book, there is never a mention of Jeremiah being married. The fact is that Jeremiah was told NOT to marry or have children.

"You must NOT marry or have sons or daughters in this place" (Jeremiah 16:1,2)

It was a part of Jeremiah's life that God withheld from him due to the coming fall of his country. God told Jeremiah that if he would marry that his wife and children would die of deadly diseases and die a horrible death. You may think that this was unfair to Jeremiah. But, the nation in which he lived was in a bad rebellious attitude toward God and God had had enough!

I don't know what your experience with marriage has been. I think Jeremiah missed out on a great relationship that God had provided others in history. I'm going to take just a moment for the following.

Tomorrow, Linda and I will celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. FORTY-FIVE YEARS!!! It is a relationship God has allowed me to experience that is like nothing else. God gave to me the best girl He had ever created. Like many of you...I married up...greatly. We have walked together through God's call in our lives. Not only is she the greatest wife...she has taken the other roles God has given to her in her life seriously as well. She is the greatest mother. Seriously, ask her children. If they are truthful they would tell anyone that they have the greatest mom ever! And the "Nana" role. Oh, my. She takes that role extremely seriously. She has seven grandchildren and this pandemic is driving her crazy because it limits her time with her grandchildren. A couple of years following our wedding she became a Pastor's wife. And yes...she was the best in that role.

There is something that I have realized through the years. The longer that I am married to her...our relationship continues to get better. My suggestion is that couples endure the early years and make them as good as you can because when you get into being married for decades you will experience the best years of your life. Seriously, being married to Linda, my wife for 45 years is the best thing God has done for me (aside from salvation, of course).

Jeremiah missed something great in his life by not experiencing a marriage made in heaven. But, this was God's will for his life. As a servant of God, Jeremiah was faithful to his call and stayed obedient to God throughout his life.

Make a big deal out of your marriage. Do something for your spouse today. Every day is special because your spouse is a gift from God to you!

May God Bless You!
